I had a call last week with a nonprofit legal team that already lives in Google Workspace. They turned on Gemini there. It answers a question in Gmail. It drafts in Docs. For matter work it still feels bolted onto the office suite. The files that matter sit in a document system. The citations have to hold. The ethical wall cannot leak across matters. Workspace Gemini does not run that job.

On August 25 Google Cloud put Gemini Enterprise for Legal and Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services into preview on the Gemini Enterprise platform it launched in October 2025. Google says Healthcare, Life Sciences, and other Professional Services come next.

Buyers keep mixing the names. Gemini in Workspace is the assistant inside Gmail, Docs, and Meet. Gemini Enterprise is a Google Cloud product with its own console and agent platform. I wrote the Verizon care version of Gemini Enterprise on August 30. That deal put agents on inbound calls. This deal puts agents on contracts and research memos.

That is the move I would put in front of the nonprofit. Stay in Workspace for mail. Put the legal work on Cloud.

Four Law Firms Helped Shape the Legal Pack

Google names Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly as firms it worked with on the legal pack. Skills listed include contract review and redlining, playbook creation, regulatory scanning, legal research, and data subject access request work. Agents are supposed to carry a task through, not stop at a paragraph of advice.

The connector list shows which systems Gemini can open, the apps the firm already pays for.

• Discovery: Everlaw and RelativityOne
• Research and dockets: Thomson Reuters HighQ, CourtListener, Courtroom5, Solve Intelligence
• Legal AI already in those firms: Harvey and Legora

Google says those pipes inherit the permissions already set in the source system. Matter walls stay where the document system put them. Client data and firm playbooks stay in the customer's project and are not used to train Google's foundation models, per Google's account.

Deloitte put two agents on the marketplace with the launch, a contract summarizer and a clause redline agent. Eudia added a knowledge agent. The integrator list includes Accenture, KPMG, Factor Law, and several Cloud specialists.

Firms already pay Harvey, Relativity, and FactSet. Google is wiring Gemini into those same systems. The buy question is whether you pay twice.

Banks Get a Research Agent and Licensed Data Pipes

The finance pack is built for capital markets and corporate banking. The center piece is a Google-managed Financial Research agent. Google says it ships with more than 50 skills (Google Cloud, 2026) and shows where an answer came from, how sure it is, and which data cut it used. Deutsche Bank is named as a design partner and is starting in the Corporate Bank. CME Group is named as an early user.

Named workflows include know-your-customer research, portfolio risk cuts, credit work, and bond issuance decks. Google also lists prior Gemini Enterprise customers that now sit next to this pack: BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group, Macquarie Bank, and Signal Iduna.

Finance lives on paid data. Thirteen pipes (Google Cloud, 2026):

• Market data: FactSet, LSEG, S&P Global, Daloopa, Finnhub, Fiscal.ai
• Risk and private markets: Moody's, MSCI, PitchBook, Dun & Bradstreet
• Filings and research: SEC EDGAR, Guidepoint
• Digital assets: CoinDesk Data

Access is supposed to follow the entitlements the bank already bought.

For the nonprofit on that call, the test is practical. Can the pack open the matter system they already use, keep walls between matters, and produce a draft a lawyer will sign? If the answer is no, stay on Workspace and wait. If the answer is yes, the Cloud pack is the product they thought they had bought when they clicked Gemini in Docs.

The same test applies inside a bank. The research agent has to cite FactSet or Moody's with a snapshot a compliance officer can replay. A fluent paragraph without the citation is a liability.

Healthcare and Life Sciences Are the Named Next Packs

Google names Healthcare, Life Sciences, and other Professional Services as the next packs. That is Google's list, not a rumor. Professional Services here means the rest of the regulated desk work Google has not packaged yet: accounting, consulting, architecture, the shops that already sit in Workspace and keep their real files somewhere else.

Expect the same kit. Skills written with people in the trade. Pipes into the systems that hold the records. A Google-managed agent for the research-heavy job. A partner list that includes the integrators those industries already hire.

Retail store operations, factory floors, and consumer chat already have other Google products. The industry kit is for work that cannot leave the building without a citation and a permission check.
