Canva published the ProSuite note on September 16. Affinity covers design, photo work, and page layout. Cavalry covers motion. Flourish turns tables into charts people can click. Leonardo generates image and video variations. The finished piece then moves into Canva so a marketer can resize it, fill a template, or publish a social post (Canva, 2026).
Canva described the workflow to analysts as craft in ProSuite, scale in Canva. Specialists keep the tools that hold layers, curves, and timing. The rest of the company stays in the editor most people already have open.
I wrote in March when Magic Layers started turning a flat picture from ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot into objects you can move inside Canva. I wrote again in April on the way to Canva Create, when Cliff Obrecht said the company wanted to be an artificial intelligence platform that still has design at the center (Bellamkonda, 11 Mar. 2026; Bellamkonda, 14 Apr. 2026). ProSuite is the specialist half of that plan. The product most employees open is still Canva. Some artificial intelligence inside Affinity sits on a paid Canva plan rather than a second Affinity license.
A public chat picture still needs a designer rebuild
A public model will return a picture. It will not reliably return the approved typeface, the exact hex values, or a logo that matches the current kit. Each retry is another prompt, and the output is still one flattened image. A production designer then rebuilds the layout so legal, brand, and the printer can change a line without starting over.
Canva already lets a creative team hand routine versions to people who are not designers. Templates, Brand Kits, and Magic Layers exist for that handoff. ProSuite is meant to make the specialist’s week better so the file those people receive already has layers, type, and timing instead of a screenshot from a chat.
Brand teams pay for the hours after the first picture appears, when someone has to make that picture legal to publish.
Affinity 3.3 shipped with the ProSuite name
Affinity now imports native InDesign files, which matters for shops that still keep print work in Adobe. Affinity files open in Cavalry with layers intact, so a motion pass does not start from an exported picture. Data Merge ties Affinity to Canva Sheets. Brand Kits reach into Affinity as well (Canva, 2026).
The Blend Tool is the feature Affinity users asked for for years. You set how one shape turns into another, including bias and easing, instead of placing every in-between frame by hand. Scripting can run across vector, pixel, and layout in one document. A Claude connector in Affinity can take a written request for batch edits or print prep. Photography work got a larger RAW pass, mixed-light correction, motion-blur reduction, and a studio for night-sky frames. Scene Decomposition tries to split a flat image back into layers so a designer edits objects instead of painting over a picture.
Cavalry shipped more than fifty changes, including lighting, new shapes, a rebuilt graph editor, and imports from Canva Sheets. One handoff is still listed as coming: a motion designer will mark which text or color a teammate can change inside Canva while the rest of the scene stays locked. Artificial intelligence extras on Cavalry, such as background removal and image-to-layers, are also still listed as coming (Canva, 2026).
The same assistants can open Canva instead of inventing a logo
Canva already sits inside those public assistants. The Canva AI Connector, built on Canva’s Model Context Protocol server, works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and a longer list that now includes Amazon Quick and Atlassian Rovo (Canva Help Center, 2026). A user can ask the assistant to find a Brand Template, fill it, or export a file without opening a new tab. Magic Layers can turn a generated picture into objects inside Canva. That path works when the assistant is allowed to see the kit and the templates. Without the connector, you are back to prompt retries and a flat download.
The four specialist apps are still separate windows. Flourish on Business and Enterprise plans is a different seat from free Affinity. Leonardo still generates variations. The suite is a named set and a set of file bridges. Adobe remains the comparison for shops that live in InDesign, After Effects, and Firefly. I wrote this month about Anil Chakravarthy taking Adobe’s chief executive job on December 1 with a billion monthly users already on that stack (Bellamkonda, 12 Sep. 2026).
Ask marketing how many published assets last quarter started as a public-chat image and how many of those needed a designer rebuild. If that number is high, turn on the Canva connector in the assistants you already allow, and put Brand Kits in front of generation. Then ask design whether Affinity and Cavalry can take the InDesign jobs you still pay Adobe for. Treat Flourish and Leonardo as separate seats until a real file moves from those apps into Canva without a rebuild.
