Dreamforce Puts the Salesforce User Ahead of the Admin Queue

Applications
Dreamforce ran September 15 to 17. Salesforce put the customer record into Claude, Slack, the Lightning search bar, and a spoken form on the Field Service phone. The admin still owns security and objects. The person doing the work no longer waits on every layout.

Fin close and Core / Advanced / Max seats
Salesforce has two audiences. For years the product was built for the administrator. This week the company put work in the tools the user already opens.

I was not in San Francisco. Dreamforce still sets the calendar for a large share of the software conversations I have, so the announcements get read from the desk. Five days before the keynote I wrote that Salesforce had closed Fin, recorded the Contentful close, named a Trusted Enterprise AI Harness, and folded Slack, Tableau Next, and Agentforce credits into Core, Advanced, and Max seats. That commercial map did not change on stage. What changed is who the interface is built to serve first.

A Salesforce org has two jobs that rarely sit in the same meeting. An administrator owns objects, permissions, flows, and the layout the company will defend in an audit. A seller, a service agent, or a field technician owns the next record. For a long stretch the second group lived at the mercy of what the first group had time to build. If the page layout missed a field, the user waited. If the mobile form asked for gloves off and a stylus, the technician typed later, or not at all.

The week’s product notes move work closer to that second person. AIforce is Salesforce’s name for putting data, workflows, permissions, and business logic into Claude, Slack, and the Lightning search bar, instead of sending every task back through the classic CRM screen. Salesforce says those hops use zero data retention. An SDK is promised so other surfaces can sit on the same layer (Salesforce, 2026).

Voice to Form is the example a field crew can feel

On the main keynote the stage used Field Service after Commerce Cloud. The line was gloves and greasy fingers. A technician who has to pull off gloves to tap a phone stops the job. Voice to Form lets that person speak. Data Capture maps the spoken summary onto the fields on the Field Service mobile app for Android and iOS. The form fills while the hands stay on the work.

This is not a brand-new object invented on September 15. Salesforce marked Data Capture Voice to Form generally available in an earlier 2026 release. The Summer ’26 notes added Spanish, Japanese, German, French, and Italian next to English, with field-mapping accuracy and latency described as on par with English. You deploy a translated Data Capture flow per language and assign it to the work order. Workers set device dictation to that language (Salesforce Help, 2026).

Setup still belongs to the administrator. Voice to Form needs the Agentforce for Field Service SKU, Data Cloud, and Data Capture flows saved as LLM-targetable. Each component can carry an LLM Context field so the model knows what the box is for. The user change is the microphone on the form. I wrote about this kind of hands-free capture earlier on Misunderstood Marketing, because the constraint is physical, not a dashboard preference. Other vendors that sell work to people who wear gloves should copy the pattern.

Two nearby voice items are easy to mix with that demo. Agentforce Voice for employee agents in the Salesforce mobile app is a conversation for pre-visit prep and post-visit updates. Wednesday’s developer session covered embedding Agentforce Voice in any mobile app. Neither of those is the Field Service form fill from the keynote.

Claude, Slack, and Lightning search are the same move indoors

AIforce launched as three named surfaces. Claudeforce puts Salesforce inside Claude through a prebuilt MCP server and sales skills, in open beta, extending the August 26 partnership. Slackforce brings Slackbot, Slackforce Surfaces in beta, Slack CRM, and Slack Code into the thread where the team already talks. Agentforce Coworker sits in the Lightning search bar. Salesforce said 100,000 users activated Coworker in its first 35 days. Adecco said it is rolling Coworker across 40 countries (Salesforce, 2026).

That is the open-interface claim. Salesforce is no longer asking every task to start inside its own chrome. The record, the permission, and the action travel into tools the company does not own. A walled garden would have kept Claude and Slack as destinations that copy a snapshot. AIforce is built so those tools can act on the live org, under the same security the administrator already set.

Koa and the named agents sit behind that interface

Koa is Salesforce’s first CRM reasoning model, post-trained on NVIDIA’s open-weight Nemotron family for sales, marketing, and service work. The company pitch is a cheaper path for multi-step CRM jobs than sending every step through Claude or ChatGPT on the Agentforce gateway. Salesforce says customer data was not used as training material (Salesforce, 2026).

The September 11 agent portfolio stayed the catalog during the show. Casey covers help across voice, SMS, WhatsApp, and web. Paige covers IT and HR. Carter covers shoppers. Marshall covers supply chain. Piper covers inbound work on a website. Fin is the customer agent from the closed purchase. Hunter is outbound sales, still in pilot, with general availability aimed at November. Salesforce said 30,000 customers are live on Agentforce. Marc Benioff said the internal Hunter agent generated $500 million in pipeline last quarter. That figure is company-stated.

Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services both gained more room in the same week. Gemini is an org-level option in the Agentforce reasoning engine. AWS put Salesforce capabilities into Amazon Quick and an AWS DevOps Agent into Slack, with more Zero Copy through Informatica and Bedrock model choice. OpenAI models through Bedrock are scheduled later. Contact Center as a Service is scheduled for October. None of those partnerships replace the admin. They give the user more doors into the same governed record.

What you ask the team on Monday

The September 10 seat map is still the bill. Core, Advanced, and Max list at $195, $395, and $550 per user month, with Slack, Tableau Next, and Agentforce credits inside the seat. Fin stays in Salesforce AI Labs and keeps serving the desks it already runs. You still decide which path a given queue takes.

Ask which surface owns the next update to the record. Ask whether Voice to Form is licensed and whether the Data Capture flows are LLM-targetable in the languages the crew actually speaks. Ask which model pays for a long job, Koa or a frontier model through the gateway. Ask the administrator what remains blocked when Claude or Slack tries to write back.

The platform did not stop needing an admin. It stopped treating the user as a guest on a layout the admin finished last quarter.
