Salesforce said it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Listen Labs, an artificial intelligence customer research and human simulation company founded by Alfred Wahlforss and Florian Juengermann. Aman Naimat, president of Salesforce AI Labs, said the product designs studies, runs research, and turns feedback into context for agents. Wahlforss said a company can hold thousands of conversations at once and simulate how customers will respond before a move. The note names Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, and the broader Salesforce artificial intelligence portfolio as the homes for that work. Close is expected in the fourth quarter of Salesforce fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory clearance (Salesforce, 2026).
The announcement does not name a price. Business Insider reported talks near two billion dollars on September 9. TechCrunch wrote that Listen Labs had signed, then left, a 125 million dollar Series C term sheet at a 1.5 billion dollar valuation led by Menlo Ventures. Those figures stay labeled as reported talks until Salesforce files a number.
On September 10 I wrote that Salesforce had closed Fin and put agents into the Core, Advanced, and Max seat price. Fin handles the service desk. Listen Labs is the interview layer that can sit on the account file those agents already read (September 10).
Surveys still struggle to collect a useful reply
Revenue and marketing teams still send a form after a deal closes. The list is short, the timing is late, and the person who made the decision has often moved on. Getting a useful response rate on that form is hard, which is why so much win-loss work ends up as a manager debrief or a quarterly pack.
Listen Labs describes four steps that turn the research question into a conversation. The software drafts the study. It recruits from a claimed network of more than 50 million people, or from the customer's own list. An agent interviews around the clock in more than 120 languages. The platform then builds highlight clips and slides that point back to a real conversation. Salesforce adds digital twins, simulations grounded in those interviews, so a team can test a product, message, or idea before more live research (Listen Labs; Salesforce, 2026).
A marketing leader already buying Qualtrics, UserTesting, or a panel firm will recognize that research job. The Salesforce purchase matters if those interviews attach to the opportunity, account, and contact that sales and service already use.
Win-loss work can use the Salesforce file and the interview together
The Salesforce record already holds stage history, amount, products, competitor field, activity log, and the people who sat in the rooms. Precise win-loss work needs that file plus a talk with the buyer. An agent can recruit the economic buyer or a look-alike while the deal is still in memory, ask why price, product, risk, or a rival won, and write the answer next to the opportunity.
A sales leader can then compare closed deals that share a competitor, a segment, or a discount band and read the interview next to those fields.
If the twins are built from real interviews, a team can test a new package or talk track against those voices before the next campaign. That work holds when the simulation stays tied to named segments in the Salesforce file.
The close still leaves the CRM join as work to ship
You will want to know whether a finished Listen Labs study writes back to the opportunity, account, and contact, or lives in a separate research workspace. You will want to know who may read an interview that names a customer, and whether Agentforce can use that interview as grounding on the next similar deal, with a citation the seller can open.
Qualtrics, survey programs, and outside research firms already on the books stay in place on signing day. Listen Labs becomes the win-loss path when the interview and the Salesforce record stay on one page.
The transaction is still a quarter or more away. Until it closes, treat Listen Labs as a signed research product and treat the join to the deal file as the work Salesforce still has to ship.
Pick twenty closed-won and twenty closed-lost opportunities from the last two quarters. Pull competitor, amount, and stage history from Salesforce. Count how many of those buyers completed a post-close survey, and whether you can attach a conversation to the file.
If interviews already land on the opportunity, ask what Salesforce will add to that join. If the survey folder is thin, Listen Labs is a candidate for the missing conversation.
