Cisco announced Claude Managed Agents for Webex and a governance layer around them. Room software arrives in November and Dialog enters beta in early 2027.
Cisco is hosting agents from other vendors and writing the governance for them itself. Dated releases today include the room software in November and the contact center releases.
Claude and Google Meet are both coming to Cisco's collaboration stack as partner technology. Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents will run inside Webex spaces, meetings, and calls, and a new partnership with Google puts fully featured Meet on Cisco room devices. I covered WebexOne last year in my 2025 article on LinkedIn, and I followed this year's event from Cisco's analyst briefing materials and trade coverage rather than from the floor in Austin, so everything below rests on what Cisco and the press published on October 7.
Cisco Chose to Host Other Vendors' Intelligence
Cisco says Claude Managed Agents will let teams in Webex turn shared context into analysis, recommendations, and coordinated action across approved agents, without leaving the app. Cisco describes the timing as soon.
The release offers one concrete scenario. A team member @mentions an analytics agent in a Webex space to pull usage statistics, then asks a presentation agent to update a PowerPoint deck with those numbers. The hand-off between the two agents happens in the conversation where the team is already talking.
OpenAI's dots arrives by a different route. The Webex Suite integration built on the Model Context Protocol brings Webex context into dots, and Cisco says dots will later appear inside Webex as an always-on personal agent. Snorre Kjesbu, senior vice president and general manager of collaboration at Cisco, adds in his WebexOne blog post that organizations can connect Webex to the artificial intelligence they choose and keep governance and control in place.
The contribution Cisco brings to every one of those arrangements is context, meaning the spaces, meetings, and calls where a team's decisions already live.
The Room Hardware Now Speaks Four Meeting Platforms
Google Meet joins Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom on Cisco devices, which puts four meeting platforms on one piece of hardware (Cisco Systems, 2026). Cisco calls the result the most open collaboration hardware on the market and says customers keep the freedom to choose their meeting environment while device intelligence and management stay with Cisco.
Choosing a room vendor no longer decides which meeting platform your company standardizes on.
That moves the competition to the intelligence inside the device, which is what RoomOS 27 adds when it arrives in November (Cisco Systems, 2026). The Cisco AI Assistant on devices handles natural language in 32 languages (Cisco Systems, 2026), and the release's example has a person saying the room is too warm and the room responding by adjusting the temperature and lowering the blinds. Kjesbu's post says contextual noise removal in the newest devices is powered by RoomOS and an NVIDIA deep learning accelerator built into the hardware, that room telemetry flows into Splunk, and that device management runs through Cisco Cloud Control.
The new Ceiling Speaker Pro finishes the audio side, replacing multi-vendor audio setups with a single Ethernet cable, according to Cisco. Kjesbu writes that customers kept asking for a speaker, and Cisco used the request to complete an audio-over-IP room architecture.
Governance Is the Part Cisco Wrote Itself
Webex AI Agents run inside guardrails from Cisco AI Defense, with live telemetry and observability from Splunk. AI Agent 360 stretches that across the agent lifecycle, helping organizations test, secure, monitor, and optimize their agents. Cisco announced in May that it would acquire Astrix, whose software discovers and secures agent identities, and the deal had closed by June 29 (Cisco, 2026). I covered the announcement at the time.
Dialog sits beneath the Webex AI Agent platform and keeps customer history connected to enterprise systems, knowledge, and policies, so an agent can keep working on a case after the conversation ends. Cisco says organizations can onboard those agents like new teammates by indexing employee handbooks, knowledge bases, and operating procedures. AI Concierge and AI Agent 360 both appeared at Cisco Live in June and come up again in Cisco's WebexOne posts, and I covered them in my post on Cisco's contact center platform.
At Cisco Live in June, the demonstration that stayed with me had an agent message an engineer through Webex with its reasoning, wait for approval, and then offer to handle that class of problem alone next time. I wrote it up in my Cisco Live field report. The same loop of explanation, approval, and earned autonomy would suit agents Cisco did not build as well.
Cisco supplies the guardrails and the shared context, which lets each model vendor concentrate on how its agent behaves.
The Room and the Contact Center Have Dates Today
Several items already have dates. RoomOS 27 arrives in November, and Webex AI Agent for voice on Contact Center Express is planned for October, while Dialog enters beta in the first quarter of 2027 (Muthukrishnan, 2026). Webex AI Agent is already generally available for Contact Center Enterprise, which brings the AI to customers who keep their communications systems on premises.
Briefings with Cisco can settle two operating questions before the first agent joins a meeting:
- Administrators need to know who approves an agent's access to spaces and data, and whether that approval can be limited to a single team instead of the whole tenant.
- The audit record for an action by another vendor's agent needs a named home in Cisco's tooling, along with a way to export it.
Once an Anthropic agent acts inside a Cisco space, which contract defines who answers for the outcome? Put that question to your Cisco account team in writing, along with the ship date for Claude in Webex, so the terms are settled before an agent joins your first meeting.
