Claude Builds a Live Dashboard From Your Warehouse and Shows the SQL.

Applications
I prefer to ask a question and get an answer. Tables and fixed dashboards make me open the wrong tool and then stare at rows.

When I was chief marketing officer I built my own Salesforce dashboards. I did not wait for an analyst or someone in IT. That skill kept the campaign numbers from sitting in a queue.

Anthropic announced three changes on October 8, 2026. Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise. Claude Docs, Slides, and Design left beta and are now available on every plan, including Free. Anthropic says people have already made more than 45 million of those files in Claude.

Claude Dashboards connects to a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, or Snowflake. It also works with other connectors you already use, such as Salesforce. You type the question in ordinary language. Claude writes the SQL for each chart and runs it against the connected source. It builds a dashboard that stays current as the data changes. Each chart shows the query behind it and the time the source was last refreshed. You can click any number and read the exact SQL. Anthropic positions it for quick exploratory questions, such as how this week’s signups compare with last month’s. When the question needs more work, you can send the dashboard to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau are listed as coming.

This replaces the ticket or the SQL wait for the questions a business user can already name. It does not replace a full business intelligence platform. You still send the result to those tools when the analysis gets deeper. The visible query is the check that the chart is counting what you meant.

Claude Motion, also announced the same day, turns a quarterly report, a chart, or a product walkthrough into a short animated explainer. Claude writes code that animates your own text, charts, shapes, and images. It does not use a video generation model and does not create footage or people. You edit the words, numbers, or timing in the editor or by asking Claude, then download an MP4. You can open the file in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI, or Runway. Canva and Captions are listed as coming. This replaces the static slide for the simple explanation that would land better in motion.

Who can use it is set by plan. Claude Dashboards is in beta on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only. Docs, Slides, and Design are available on every plan, including Free. On Team plans, Docs, Slides, Design, and Motion are on by default. On Enterprise, Dashboards and Motion stay off until an owner turns them on. Docs, Slides, and Design turn on by default on October 15, 2026, or an owner can turn them on earlier. On Enterprise plans, owners can also limit access with custom roles once the organization setting is on.

The corporate action starts with an owner or primary owner. First turn on “Cloud code execution and file creation” under Organization settings, Capabilities. Then go to Organization settings, Artifacts, and turn the template on. To let artifacts read from connected apps, also turn on Enable artifact connectors under Capabilities, Visuals. Artifacts support customer-managed encryption keys. The standalone Claude Design site at claude.ai/design stays available until December 14, 2026, so teams have time to migrate design systems. Pro and Max users can connect a warehouse or Salesforce themselves. On Enterprise the connection is gated by the admin settings above. The version that reads company systems still needs the same controls as any other tool that touches live data.

Identity governance and administration software can alert on this access. Anthropic’s Claude Compliance API already feeds user logins, admin actions, configuration changes, and activity into tools such as SailPoint, Saviynt, and Okta. Those platforms treat Claude Enterprise the same way they treat other applications. When someone connects a warehouse or Salesforce, or when an admin turns a template on, the event appears in the same review and alerting workflows the organization already uses. The Dashboards and Motion features do not create a separate alert channel. The monitoring comes from the existing Compliance API path.

What to check

Ask your admin whether Dashboards is on and whether artifact connectors are enabled. Confirm the warehouse credentials you connect reach only the tables you need. Read the SQL before you share the chart. Start with one question you used to wait on. Confirm Motion is enabled if your team wants the animated explainer.
