- Nearly three quarters (72%) of adults said local newspapers are by far the source they rely on for much of the local information they need
- One-third of local news enthusiasts (32%) say it would have a major impact on them if their local newspaper no longer existed
- Local news consumers are more connected to their communities than others
- Local news enthusiasts use the internet, cell phones, social networking sites and other technology about as much as those who follow local news less closely
