The ink is dry. Verint and Calabrio are now one. Here is the roadmap we predicted back in September.

The CX Mega-Merger is Official: Verint and Calabrio Join Forces Under Thoma Bravo

Back in September, I attended Verint Engage 2025 and my colleague Thomas Randall and I reported on a company standing at a precipice. CEO Dan Bodner made a strategic bet: that an "Open Platform" of specialized AI bots was the future of CX, and that private equity was the vehicle to get there.

Today, that vehicle has arrived. Thoma Bravo has officially completed the acquisition and announced the combination of Verint with its existing portfolio company, Calabrio.

The New "CX Automation Powerhouse"

This isn't just an acquisition; it is a consolidation of massive proportions. By merging Verint (a leader in enterprise CX automation and bots) with Calabrio (a leader in workforce performance), Thoma Bravo is creating a single vendor that covers almost every inch of the contact center technology stack.

The goal is clear: combine Verint's "Open Platform" and data hub with Calabrio's "Calabrio ONE" suite to dominate the market.

The Leadership Shakeup

As is common with PE takeovers, the boardroom is changing immediately:

  • Mike Lipps (Thoma Bravo): Steps in as Chairman and Interim CEO of Verint.
  • Dan Bodner (Verint): Transitions to an advisory role after years of leadership.
  • Dave Rhodes (Calabrio): Remains CEO of Calabrio, reporting to Lipps.

What This Means for CIOs

If you are a Verint or Calabrio customer, the "Wait and See" period is over. The integration phase begins now. As we noted in our research note, the practical concern for CIOs is roadmap continuity.

While this merger promises a "comprehensive AI-powered CX platform", history suggests that merging two massive product portfolios takes time. Expect aggressive moves to cross-sell Verint's "Da Vinci" bots into the Calabrio base and vice versa.

Strategy Check: If you own both platforms, push for immediate clarity on the unified roadmap. Do not accept "business as usual" as an answer—consolidation brings opportunity, but only if you govern the integration proactively.
